Greater Flamingos – the pink birds
The Greater Flamingos are migratory birds and flying every year from west to central Kazakhstan.
Did you know that Greater Flamingos call Kazakhstan home? They breed in the lake areas south of Astana, fly west with the onset of the cold months and remain in the open waters of the Caspian Sea near Aktau over the winter. Incidentally, the Greater Flamingos get their pink color from their diet and they are the largest living flamingo species on our planet.
