67th Birthday of Cosmodrome Baikonur
On this day, Baikonur Cosmodrome celebrates its 67th birthday.
On June 2, 1955, the Soviet Union secretly built the spaceport in the vast steppes of Kazakhstan. Two years later, Baikonur became popular after the first satellite Sputnik-1 was successfully launched into orbit.
