Pink Supermoon – look up!

The pink supermoon will be the biggest and brightest moon in 2020 tonight. But why is it called supermoon? And turns the moon into pink color this night?

This full moon in spring is the brightest and biggest moon in the year 2020.

A supermoon is when our cosmic neighbor is very close to Earth during it’s full moon phase. On this days the moon looks extra-close and extra-bright. This time the moon is 14% bigger and 30% brighter than a full moon at its farthest point from Earth.

If you look closely, you will see very much details of our cosmic neighbour – even with the naked eye. Thanks to the coronavirus crisis the air in very much cities is clear and without dust and air pollution. This gives the opportunity to have a clearer view to the supermoon this year.

But why it’s called pink supermoon? Does the moon will pink tonight? No! It’s called “pink” because each supermoon in a different month has its own name. The March is the month of the pink cherry blossoms.
